    Technology For         Cultural Changes

Technology is changing every aspect of our lives. The benefits provided by new digital approaches are having a huge impact on our societies. However, one of the greatest business challenges is not about the devices, software or solutions – it is about how we manage the process of cultural change.

I have quickly seen for myself how technology is adopted in different ways and how countries are digitally divided by its access and availability.
Many facets of global communications today are influenced by cultural differences – be it email, Skype, social media or the telephone. The key to communicating successfully is understanding and respecting all of our differences to enable a positive impact.

The cultural divide is also dictated by the different technological possibilities available and what users are allowed to use.
There simply isn’t the connectivity speeds, or in some cases connection capability, to make this happen. So we have to be more innovative, whilst meeting the needs of the user.
We have the global leapfrogging phenomenon where technologically less advanced countries jump generations of legacy technologies to adopt more advanced solutions.

Using the latest technology that previous generations did not have changes mind sets.

Technology and culture directly influence each other. As cultures change so does the technology it innovates. Much of this is for the greater good. It is, for example, a massive aid to global communication. But we must not forget how to talk face-to- face and the impact it can have in crossing the cultural divide.
There has always been a connection between technology and culture.  From the first use of stone tools to the development of handheld Personal Digital Assistants (PDA), technology has influenced human culture just as much as culture has sparked advancements in technology.  It is a complex relationship that forms a figurative circle of influence.  There is no real starting or end points within the circle – both technology and culture continue to influence each other as they develop and change over time.  In the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries, technology and culture have significantly influenced one another.  As cultures change so does the technology they develop.  With developments in manufacturing, communications and engineering, cultures have been re-shaped around the world by freeing people from small family farms by choice or by force, dispersing information and changing the landscape.  These technological developments have changed the cultures positively but negatively as well.  Cultures in turn drive technological development.   While it is difficult to explain all of the examples of how technology has influenced culture and vice versa

Technology changes agricultural techniques, it also changes the environment and thus the cultures of the people affected.
The relationship between technology and culture is cyclical. Logically, a culture will develop technologies based on the needs or desires of the people, because this is where the creative influences lie.
The ability to create relationships based solely on mutual understandings and shared common interests have fed the social media phenomena. In the past, people were able to get together physically and discuss concerns or share thoughts. However public spheres are changing from gathering in coffee shops to meeting online through forums and other social media platforms.
According to Digital Nation, a 90-minute PBS documentary which aired on Feb. 10, 2010, the purpose of the program was: “to examine the risks and possibilities, myths and realities presented by the new digital culture we all inhabit”. One of the many insights from this documentary is that in this wired world, people living in the same house or workplace can all be looking at different screens and communicating with different people. This changes how people interact with each other, as well as where our public spheres may be found (online instead of discussions at the dining room table or in meetings at work, perhaps?). Most concerning to me is the suggestion that multi-tasking online is not to be applauded but to be concerned because of the impact on cognitive abilities.

How do cultures interact with each other?
Culture significantly influences the way in which we communicate with each other. When we interact with persons from different cultures, national stereotypes may affect our approach.
When individuals interact with persons from other countries, they should appreciate the potential impact of cultural differences. They should take the time to learn about the cultures of their opponents, even though all persons from the same culture do not necessarily behave identically. They should also use the Preliminary Stage of their interaction to get to know each other personally and to establish some rapport. They should finally seek to create positive bargaining environments which should make it easier for the parties to achieve efficient agreements.

All of what we see here makes absolute sense. If, however, you are going to work more proactively with the business, deliver quickly and continuously, and manage costs and risks effectively along the way, you don’t want to be constantly fighting old, rigid and fragile infrastructure. Neither do you want to be held back by methods conceived in the last century. It is therefore not surprising to see many highlighting adoption of modern technologies, services and method

The culture of an organisation is frequently a function of its history. Whether it’s good or bad, if it’s strongly ingrained, new people entering the business will often be forced to fall into line with “the way we do things around here”. In smaller businesses or start-ups, the personalities, backgrounds and values of key executives, e.g. the original founders, can be the biggest influencing factor. In practical terms, if your IT team operates within a progressive business culture, this tells us that you’ll find lots of things easier. This includes everything from openly and productively communicating with business stakeholders, to securing funding for the kind of investments that both make your life better and allow you to deliver greater value to the business.
Why is technology useful?

Have you asked yourself the question, why is technology so important today? Just look around and you will know why. Literally, every instant of time, you are surrounded by technology. Whether you are working or resting, you are always using technology. It is used everywhere and all the time.

Places far away have come closer, the pace of life has increased, thanks to technology. Communication is rapid, travel is fast, movement is easy, action is quick, interaction has sped up and so has life. Things that used to took hours to complete, can be done in seconds today. The world is smaller and life is fast. All Courtesy goes to Technology.

Technology is the most important factor behind development of world today. Home automation is a concept which is also a part of tomorrow’s technology. There are number of trends which defines the level of technology in modern era which includes,

1. Internet of things

2. Smart cities

3. Big data

4. Market globalization

5. Energy efficiency

6. Sustainability

In the coming future, the expectations from technology will be very high. In the coming decade some of the top markets will be,
